Back in the time of cave people, our threats were obvious. Oh no, there’s a lion! Our choices would be fight it or “flight” it (run away) and we would either die or escape. If we escaped, our body then had time to come down from all that adrenalin. We could eat the lion and celebrate! Stressful event over.*
In today’s world, our stressors are not as obvious as the lion, and unfortunately they linger on and on. This keeps the stress response going, which leads to all sorts of bad things. If this little guided relaxation is not your thing, please find the thing that is- laughing with friends, exercising, even a bubble bath can help discharge some of those stress baddies.
